The latest in a very long line of Ford Transit vans has just been released to the market, and it’s fair to say, she’s a little bit of a head turner. The new Transit SportVan, complete with stripy red livery, has been released to mark the passing of the Transit’s 45th birthday.
First created in 2006, the Ford Transit SportVan has taken many guises. The first edition appeared in Performance Blue with white stripes, followed by other incarnations including Sea Grey with silver stripes, Panther Black with silver stripes, Frozen White with blue stripes and Ink Blue with silver stripes.
The 2010 version is Colorado Red with Le Mans-style white bonnet stripes. Only 100 will be built so if you’ve got your eye on one you’d best be quick off the mark. This latest version is based on the 260, front wheel drive short wheelbase model and comes with a 140PS 2.2 litre TDCi diesel engine and six speed transmission. A unique feature is the DAB radio, which has never before come as standard in any Ford Transit.
The exterior is certainly extrovert with twin exhausts, 18in graphite colour wheels, low profile 235/45 tyres, front and rear lower spoilers, side skirts and extended wheel arches.
Internally you can expect all the regular features which come as standard with your brand new Transit, with the welcome addition of a 6 CD multi-player, cruise control, tinted glass and rain sensing wipers.
With a price tag of £22,630 when the SportVan hits the market in just a few weeks, it is expected that all 100 will be sold in no time at all.
