March 2010 saw a significant rise in the number of people purchasing vans in the UK. Paul Everitt, chief executive at the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) announced that, according to SMMT figures, March is the “third successive month of growth”.
These figures are good news for the motor industry, which was hit incredibly hard by the recent recession. The increase in van sales has however been described by Mr Everitt as “a hesitant recovery” and he highlights that overall “demand is still very low”.
The number of vans purchased in March 2010 is significantly higher than the number of vans purchased in March 2009. Last month saw 34,700 vans registered in the UK, far more than in the previous period, where only 29,800 new vans were bought.
If you are the owner of one of the 34,700 newly registered vans, it is essential that you have proper van insurance. Van insurance prices can range widely between insurance providers, so it is important that you compare quotes before you buy. It is also important that you go ahead with a policy that gives you the cover that matches your requirements.
By comparing van insurance quotes, the team at Van Compare can advise you on the insurance package that is right for you, to give you cover at the right price, leaving you to enjoy driving your new van with one less thing to worry about.
